A very good analysis of the current situation. As you point out, the current law requires a long and complex process to switch gender on legal documents from male to female and vice versa.

A question: for civil legal purposes, doesn't the diverse / non-binary / third gender already exist? How is that incorporated into this debate? That is a level of sophistication and nuance that does not seem to exist, as in most other countries having this discussion the legal recognition of "other" / non-binary gender hardly exists.

Oh Wow that is one hot button topic!!!!!!

Without commenting on the issue of sex vs gender I very interested in how this will play out politically, will it help or hurt the Greens. It (embrace of wokeness) certainly has hurt the Dems in the US they're going for a major clobbering in the mid terms.

The biggest difference that I suspect will be the medicating of pre-teens (puberty blockers etc). Much of the healthcare in the US is profit driven where here it's more about budgets.
