I agree with Luke - 3 weeks' sick leave unless you have a long term health condition or have had flu is too much. But there's nothing wrong with working part-time. I work part-time and I do have an elderly mother, but it's really nothing to do with the State what one does with one's non-working time! Also, employers often have no budget for a full time person but can afford someone on a fractional basis.

I think 3 weeks of sick leave is too much, but I think part-time work is a good thing because if they cracked down on it, a lot of people would probably leave the workforce and claim Bürgergeld instead.

It’s funny to see rich old folks who exploit other people’s labor and time to accumulate wealth only to themselves complain people don’t work until late at night for a miserable monthly salary. They forget people see how unfair the system is and how uncertain the future is, people are frustrated they could not give less fucks about their employers.

They claim lack of work-ethics without looking what incentives people have to work more.

I’m a white collar tech worker, in a leadership position, I work part-time and have 2 kids, if it wasn’t for the flexibly of part-time I would never be able to do the work I do. I know that is true for so many people, they work because part-time is possible, otherwise they’d take longer elternzeit, or burnout and stay years off woe because of that.
