The Green party are demanding an end to the so-called Dienstwagenprivileg. This “company car privilege” - a tax rule that helps people to drive company cars privately - is a “climate killing subsidy” that primarily benefits CEOs and other high earners, the Greens say. They assert that by abolishing it the federal government could fatten its tax revenues by three billion euros a year - a sum that could subsidise cheap train tickets.
